About Me

What areas of cinema have you become more proficient in since you took this class?

have learned a ton about working with the lights and sound. I know a lot about the Tascam now. I also learned a lot more of the planning aspect of filming and how easy it is to do multiple things at once. By easy I mean you can get caught off guard and realize that you are directing one film while staring in another while doing lights and sound for another one.

What areas of cinematography need improvement (how will you make this happen?—be explicit and thoughtful in your writing.

I need to work on how to use the camera, or at least in being aware of how the cameras work. I know how to make my way around a BBA set and how to follow along with certain terms but what I want to be able to do is be able to direct a DP on which camera I would like to use because I know the different lenses and cameras. My first couple of weeks I need to overload myself with getting knowledge on the cameras that I have already used so that I can jump right into the more complex cameras.

What was your work ethic like when you first took the class? What do you expect your work ethic to be like this semester?

When I first took the class I was really diligent about getting everything in on time. I was super worried about whom I should work with and how to come up with the best ideas. My second time I jumped right into filming and didn't worry about what the movies were, just that I was working on them. Now my ethic is "I have some good ideas and I want to start filming right away." I am not worried about whom I am working with, I am looking of whom I will make the best movies with and how much I can get done this last year.

What do you want to work on this year?

This year I am really excited about making films and I have a few ideas in the works. Last year I really wanted to make a good horror film and it ended up winning Gawliks! This year I want to try to get a movie in each category. I want to make a visual storytelling video especially. I don't have any ideas for that yet but it is a goal of mine. I also want to make a sketch comedy which Mary and I are already working on planning out and I am super excited about how it if we do it right, which I think we will.

When I was a sophomore I made a sketch comedy film about Vermont Translation. I starred in and directed the film that was about how to understand what the weird redneck-like words are that some people say. It was an exaggerated joke but it made it to the Gawlik awards

When I was a Junior I won the Gawlik award for Best Horror Film. It was a film about a girl who takes a guy home after a party and ends up murdering him. This is me with the director of the film that I produced.
